It seems I’ve now got the next best thing – my own “wikipedia” page courtesy of Mr Eoin Costello. (He was in the news earlier this week when his hosting company was swallowed up)
I must say I am impressed. I didn’t realise that Eoin was such a talented wit and not a bad graphic artist either.
It must have taken a couple of hours to put it all together. So maybe we’ll see more of these little works of art now that he isn’t distracted by his “booming” business.
Of course if he’d spent more time on his business maybe he would still be a “player” and not another footnote …

As a web designer, I can assure you he spent a lot longer than 2 hours doing this. One might call it a tad obsessive…

Mr. Costello may be sad, bitter, twisted, obsessive and pathetic, but he is not stupid when it comes to the law. I would not be surprised if he had his silicitors opinion before even posting that page, which rather makes it all the more pathetic.
When I sell out for a seven figure sum (must be true – at least one news service made a passing reference to it) I wonder will I take the time to create tributes to the individuals in the Irish Internet space like this one 🙂

As is always the case Kae, there are far more dirty tricks going on behind the scenes in the Irish hosting industry than the public are unaware of(indeed in the past Blacknight has been a victim of them including when the email addresses of their customer base were manually harvested by a competitor and then approached with special transfer offers).
Rather than engage in dirty tricks in response, I prefer a more open approach.
Michele knows full well why that page was put up, when someone tries to shaft my business I don’t take it lying down.

Mark, unlike some players in the Irish hosting industry, when I have something to say I have the guts to do it under my own name, not masquerade under the personas that Novara have been assaulted with for the past 6 weeks such as seansmith, Peter S, tammydillon or marcus fimmell(that’s got to be an anagram of something but I haven’t figured it out yet).

Apart from a small repayable investment by Dublin City Enterprise Board, Novara had no debt at the time of acquisition(in fact it had E283,000 in net cash in the bank) whereas another “leading” Irish hosting company was forced to blag E70,000 grand off his parents on the promise of 10% in the business. The parents eventually got the money back but were told to go whistle for the promised shareholding, must have been a frosty atmosphere at Christmas dinner this year.
I notice from the CRO that the only other investor/director in that company is still his missus(mention of the sales manager having parted with E100,000 for shares hasn’t materialised at the CRO yet) and she was only trusted with a miserable 1 (yes, one) share compared to his 5,556 shares, where’s the trust? Still paranoid that someone might nick his company out from under his nose or is it just greed?
The valuation of Irish hosting companies has now taken a dive with the entry into the market of a well diversified, big hitter with deep pockets. With a number of real data centres under their belt(as opposed to a tarted up comms room on the second floor of an office block) and a commitment to providing Irish jobs (as opposed to screwing cheap deals out of off shore staff) they are on their way to number 1 position.
Ironically I find myself in the same position as when I sold my last business ( http://www.costellojewellers.ie/ ), I have money to invest. If the “leading” hoster was looking for investment to improve their finances I might consider it, although this time I would be going in with my eyes wide open.

Perhaps you should be going around trying to find out who let the cat out of the bag rather than attacking someone who had a genuine interest in finding out whether or not such a merger was about to happen.

Was this untrue post about your sister reported to the admins at Irish Web Master forum when it was made? (If you’re logged in, there’s a little “Report Post” button over each post.) Would they have had any reason to suspect that it was an untrue statement? Or did you just make an assumption without trying to go through proper channels?

I enjoy reading many blogs on the net and this indeed is one. I am in no way connected with any of the sites or people involved but I find all of this very bizarre. I first came across Eoin Costello when he was a councillor and was impressed with his committment and have been aware of his career path. I have found this blog, associated blogs and the help offered by Michele & Blacknight on other forums very informative. As an outsider, I find the dirty laundry in public very strange. I am not aware of the background but if I were the owners of Digiweb or more importantly their clients or the clients of Novara I would be asking serious questions of a piece that is at best distasteful and vindicative in the extreme. I think you have let yourself down very badly Eoin in both a personal and professional capacity. I don’t know the reasons but they would have to be pretty good to warrant your attack?
