ICANN Really Needs A Clue

I am normally not a vocal critic of ICANN
Like any organisation it has its issues, but this latest thing regarding an event at ICANN’s upcoming meeting in San Francisco has really annoyed me.

This is the poster that they’re using to promote an event:

So it’s “ok” to use that kind of imagery?

And for an event at an ICANN meeting sponsored by PIR and .info?

Seriously?

Talk about idiocy ..

To say that I am not impressed is to put it mildly

Just shows how much of a clue ICANN has about culture and dealing with an international audience

  1. In the words of an unknown writer:
    St. Patrick came from Ireland
    A country trimmed with green
It has the shamrocks and the pipes
    Those leprechauns you’ve seen
    Those leprechauns will trip you
You’ll fall flat on your face
They’ll tickle your nose and sour the milk
    Then find a hiding place!
The twee will always be associated with Ireland and St Patricks. Even the Tourism board promotes the use of such emblems. As irritating as that may be to some.

  2. I’m no fan of paddywhackery but you’re a little over sensitive regarding the imagery. Most pubs in Temple Bar are using this type of marketing on a daily basis.
