Don’t you just love dumb spammers?
itext.ie seem to fit neatly into that group.
Their bulk unsolicited email this afternoon checks all the boxes for spam of the worst kind.
- spammy subject line – check
- html email with bad use of colour – check
- zero personalisation – check
- no unsubscribe options – check
- no explanation of why email sent – check
- non-compliance with EU directives on email – check
Yes, itext.ie are real geniuses
The email looks like a viagra spam or similar to be honest, so I wonder how successful it will be

Do you have a sample of this email? I didn’t receive it thank god :).
Also did you report them for sending spam? Do you know of anyone being prosecuted for sending spam in this country?
For all the annoyance it causes I wish you would hear more about companies being sued or fined for spam.
Michele Neylon says
I reported them to spamcop and to their hosting provider.
Reporting spam in this country to the authorities is NOT simple and is so complex that most people don’t bother, which is why you don’t see prosecutions etc.,
And yes, I do have a copy of the email 🙂

Hi Michele
Is there any example of someone in Ireland going the “complex” route? What is it (in a nutshell)
I’m still wound ip about the spam mytown.ie sent and am looking at the distinct possibility of just having to let it go. Grr
Thanks
John

If you want to wage your own little war against spammers that’s fine, but please don’t try to use my comments section as a place to get free link juice.

I have up to now allowed visitors to my blog to place links within a post. I thought it was ok. Now I know better. Appologies to anyone affected or annoyed by previous post links within comment.
Thanks
John
