Netflix and other streaming services, such as Amazon Prime Video, have led to a lot of us binging on particular shows. Instead of watching an episode a week we’re able to sit down and watch an entire series in one sitting (assuming we give up bodily functions).
I’ll freely admit that I have binged on a few shows over the last couple of years, though I don’t think I’ve ever tried to do an entire series in one sitting – at least not intentionally. (Netflix has the handy feature where it’ll queue up the next episode in a series for you, though you can disable that if you really want to.)
For long flights I’ll often “stock up” on content to watch on my iPad. Both Amazon and Netflix let you download a lot of content to watch on your mobile devices. It’s handy when you’ve got a 10 hour flight and you don’t feel like working or have already seen most of the movies on offer. I also don’t like the way airlines “edit” films so that they’re “safe” to show on flights.
Last week season 2 of Santa Clarita Diet was released on Netflix. I finished watching it yesterday. I feel vaguely guilty, though I’m not sure why!

When I moved house last year I “cut the cable“, as I wasn’t making enough use of Sky and other traditional television to warrant paying for it. I don’t have an issue with paying for a TV license, as I will still watch some Irish television, though rarely live. I also listen to the radio quite a bit, though that’s more often than not a stream as well.
