I am very picky about words and how people use them. Anyone who knows me can probably confirm this.
I get rather annoyed when people send me badly worded letters or emails and I take offence when companies I’m paying are overly aggressive with me
Today I got an email from Web Summit which I’m currently planning on attending next month.
The message from the email is:
please complete your details so that your ticket can be assigned correctly
However that is NOT what they actually sent out.
What they sent out was far more aggressive:
Bear in mind I paid for tickets to this and now they’re threatening to void my ticket? What the hell?
Yes, they probably do need to encourage people to confirm their ticket details. Other events I attend send out reminder emails to attendees to do this as well, but this is the first time I’ve received an email that’s so horribly worded.
Some might argue that I’m being overly sensitive – maybe I am, but a different choice of words wouldn’t have annoyed me this much.
