A while back I mentioned the use of captcha on the CRO website.
The idea behind the captcha text is very simple:
Block robots or automated scripts from abusing the system
Not a bad idea you might say, however it sometimes goes terribly wrong.
In the case of the CRO site you end up refreshing the page a few times in order to get a series of letters that you can actually decipher.
In other cases you find that whoever set up the layer of defence didn’t even test it and no matter how many times you submit it your code gets rejected.
Sound familiar?
It seems that Hotmail have adopted a similar methodolgy which, if this blog entry is anything to go by, is obviously not working as planned (or maybe it is working too well?)
Thanks to TCAL for pointing it out
