The Waiting is Over – VPS Plans Are Go

April 7, 2008 by Michele Neylon 9 Comments

We finally launched our VPS hosting plans about 20 minutes ago.

You can now choose between Centos or Windows Server 2003 powered VPS with optional Plesk!

Paul and I had been working on ironing out the last few bugs and annoying issues on the site for most of this evening, which is why I still haven’t eaten anything (not that I can’t go without food for a few days – I have plenty of surplus!)

There are probably issues, typos and other errors on the site which we haven’t spotted, so if you do notice anything odd please let us know: management@blacknight.com OR simply leave a comment here.

We’ll probably be making the official announcement / launch in the morning

    Most sites using a CMS look like that for me anyways 😉

    Rahood
    Could you provide me with details of your setup? ie. screen resolution etc.,
    Thanks
    Michele

    Michele:
    In the PNG above it looks like a font-size increase isn’t expanding containing divs
    Ask your developer to change height references to min-height references in the CSS and that may solve the above issue. You can use an underscore hack to make it work in IE if you aren’t using seperate IE stylesheets.
    eg:
    .producttext {style.css (line 36)
    min-height:110px;
    _height:110px;
    padding:5px 0px 10px 10px;
    width:156px;
    }

    Wrong hyperlinks for the the Enterprise VPS bit – the ‘buy now’ & ‘more info’ urls are pointing at the standard package.

    @Stewart we tested the site using litmus thoroughly, which is why I asked about the screen resolution etc., The font sizes for example look very big compared to most screens we’ve seen it on
    @Seamus – I’ll get that fixed if it hasn’t been fixed already – thanks

    My css edit should allow the links underneath the boxes to be pushed down when the text size is increased, rather than be hidden behind them.

    Sorry for the delay in getting back to you with some details.
    Updated Iceweasel/2.0.0.13 and grabbed every font in the repo. 1st thing I do is up the font size a couple of points. Settings are in the screengrab.

    I like to think I have a very good insight into the hosting industry considering I have worked in it in some shape or form for the last 8 years.
    I am quite impressed by these offerings, and think they will be ideal for certain buyers who are either not ready to fully commit to a dedicated server or simply dont have the time to mange one.
    Well done good product launch

    Thanks for all the feedback and assistance. The display issues should be resolved by now.
    Tom – thanks 🙂 We’ll be adding more features to the offering to make it more attractive
