Sky are currently pushing Sky HD by offering a lower rate to existing customers. The longer you’ve been with Sky the cheaper it is, though admittedly the reductions aren’t exactly the most generous.
Of course you’ll need a HD ready TV as well, so the entire thing gets a bit expensive 🙂
If you’re serious about your home cinema setup upgrading your TV probably isn’t a bad idea – I know I’m seriously considering it.

The SKY HD is great, but I don’t think there’s enough progamming to warrant the extra fee. I’m an NTL subscriber so I don’t have it myself.
I recently upgraded my TV at home, I went for a LG LCD. The biggest disappointment is that I haven’t yet been able to get the most out of it.
I had just bought a DVD player specifically to act as a home entertainment system before I got the TV – http:// http://www.tomdoyletalk.com/2007/03/16/home-entertainment/. It wasn’t a HD DVD player.
So my best chance of watching HD programmes/movies etc, is to either invest in a HD DVD player, a blu-ray player or a playstation 3…. all of which, I’m easily looking at spending over €450.
I know it’ll be worth it at some stage, but it seems a bit pricey at the min.
