Miss Ireland 2007 Finalists

May 21, 2007 by Michele Neylon 12 Comments

The Miss Ireland 2007 site is online with a list of the finalists and their photos.
Why do I mention it?
Well, as my good friend Irene Gahan (no point linking to her blog!) is one of the organisers I’ve been invited to the event.
What I’m going to do at the Miss Ireland final is beyond me, but I’d never turn down a night out in a tux πŸ™‚
I’m not too sure if I like the site’s colour scheme. Maybe I’m not in their target market, but I do find the text really hard to read.

Miss Cork gets my vote. Well…not a real vote, I’m too cheap to send in the text but she gets my nod of approval which I’m sure she values a lot more anyway.

I always wanted to know the difference between a geek and a nerd.
Definition of a Geek: Person who is invited to the Miss Ireland Finals, and all he can do is criticise their website.
Definition of a Nerd: Person who is invited to the Miss Ireland Finals, and goes because he wants to wear a tux.

Sweet mother of god, that is ugly. The website I mean, not the girls. I use “girls” intentionally. Anyone else over the age of 25 feel distinctly old looking at the finalists? Some of them could be my daughter and I am only 27.
Head to head with the Bus Eireann website I reckon.

Ah come on! It can’t be as bad as the Bus Eireann site!

    the site is by http://doop.ie
i did not design it but let me defend it
I have 3 daughters 4-11 years of age and
they surf a lot of pink sites like the
teenies mags on the 2 foot high shelf in
    the magazine shop.
the miss ireland is unashamedly girlie also
this design is not out of place in the genre.
the text issue that michele has is repeatable
at geek linux font size @ massive resolution!
I some how dont think this site will win
a golden spider for its text content.
why oh why do models let the arm pits be
    photographed! it should be illegal.
its 100% wordpress! spot on Irene!

Thanks Brian, I do think that Michele you missed the entire target audience we were going for as Brian points out. That said it has become legend in the world of Miss Ireland as the first web site for the event and the text voting is doing great. I won’t pretend that the site will win a spider (do I want one of course I do)The beauty of this is that I can update it with some ease. And yes I will get around to getting my blog up at some stage I promise……. You can’t complain you have a ticket, it is booked out and people are offering kidneys for tickets!

i take it back; it could win a spider; thats not a reflection on us but a reflection on the quality of site that get accepted for nominations for spiders.
I tell ya one thing the spireds have over the other awards, the award! when I go to company that have won one, you always see it. My two IIA gongs are in different dublin post codes and 3 years apart they are just a pretty vase & framed cert! but I’d have a IIA Netvis gong any day versus a spider as the cred in the industry is behind the NetVis. πŸ™‚ I hear Enterprise Ireland are sponsoring the 2007 NetVis..
Back to miss ireland.. if u dont wanna go eBay them for Charity!
Did I say it was 100% WP? another 100% WP site just launched is http://www.ean.ie bye bye newsvendor hello WP πŸ™ we added more Finalists so off ye trot to see the latest arm pits.
