Golden Spiders – Lost their web?

I’m not a big fan of the Golden Spider awards, but this year they really have been asking for criticism.

They originally had scheduled their event on the same night as the IIA Netvisionary awards, but now they’ve moved the event to the first week of December.
The thing that makes the whole thing laughable is their web site, though I don’t think the word “site” is really applicable. Web “page” might be better, but even then it doesn’t quite do the trick and would be offensive to other pages that actually convey information. Have a look for yourself
If the event is taking place in December and it’s now almost October shouldn’t they at least be accepting nominations?

  1. Yeah it’s quite strange alright, you’ve got to question their logic – wonder who’ll actually turn up for the event itself? It’s going to get some amount of ribbing in the meantime.

  2. Well the IIA’s awards now have industry credibility. They are voted on by the industry and the results are audited.
The Golden Spiders have no such industry credibility. The GS awards are just a money grubbing idea to extract money from the clueless. Unlike the IIA’s awards, the GS awards are not industry backed.
