I Sometimes Yearn For Simpler Times

July 23, 2023 by Michele Neylon 2 Comments

Photo of old hand written letters on a desk with some pencils and pens

It's 2023. The watch on my wrist has more computing power than the desktop PCs that I used to write up my thesis in university 20 odd years ago. I've got more storage space on my wrist today than I had on my full size desktop 20 odd years ago. Actually I'll go further. The watch on my wrist has a faster processor and more RAM than the first server I got back in 2001. I'm … [Read more...] about I Sometimes Yearn For Simpler Times

Wine Is Confusing

Harrison Ford might have been the headliner, but Hauer steals the scene. The scene, which features a powerful soundtrack by Vangelis, is quite beautiful in the context of the film. Fun fact - Hauer … [Read more...] about Rutger Hauer’s Monologue in Blade Runner

Paramount+’s UI Makes me Sad

July 11, 2022 by Michele Neylon 4 Comments

Paramount+ launched in Ireland a couple of weeks ago. It's obviously aiming to compete against Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ and other streaming services. However as a new entrant into the space you'd have expected them to have a slick user interface and a great customer experience. You'd be wrong. I've tried the service out "in browser" as well as via AppleTV and … [Read more...] about Paramount+’s UI Makes me Sad
