I fly with Aer Lingus regularly.
However there are some things about their online systems that I find incredibly annoying.
You can register for an online account with them, like you can with just about any airline these days.
You would think that the online account would store ALL your details so that booking flights would be a matter of a couple of clicks, but they don’t. You still have to confirm some details with each and every booking.
However, that isn’t the biggest annoyance.
I’m flying with them tomorrow to Rome, so Tripit sent me a reminder to checkin online.
This is where the Aer Lingus system just falls flat on its face.
If I go to the Aer Lingus website I can login and I can then see a list of my current reservations:
So logically you would think that I could now checkin online, but I can’t.
Viewing the details of a reservation just brings up a summary:
Nothing else
So how do I checkin online?
I have to go back to the main page again and click on the “manage booking” link which eventually takes me to this screen:
And this is where I get even more frustrated.
While the booking reference code is unique they still expect you to complete all the fields on the form in order to checkin online.
Why oh why?
