Irish Slowband – Update

November 22, 2005 by Michele Neylon 8 Comments

A couple of days ago I posted about our experiences with Irish Broadband.

The second of the three connections we had ordered finally went in this morning after several days of “issues” with the installation and the IP allocation.
Naturally enough we conducted a number of tests on the new connection to see if it was as bad as the first one.
It was woeful.
So we contacted their customer care / technical support / post-sales team.
They assured us that there were no issues with the connection. I find that rather amusing, as the advertised 2 megabit product was giving worse connection speeds than 56k dialup!
Needless to say we have decided to cancel the connections as they are unusable and will be staying with Netsource who have always provided a reliable connection and excellent technical support.
I notice that we are not alone in having issues with them.

I dont think Irish broadband are that bad as opposed to the other clowns in the broadband business in ireland. Fair play to them they are trying somthing new and
hey it’s working for me. I have had a few problems granted but I have always found that they live up to their promises.

And would the fact that you seem to be in their offices have any influence on your opinion?

I am in the same boat as Tony no matter about where he is or who he works for!! I run a medium sized web design company in Dublin and have an Irish Broadband 4mb 12:1 connetion. Since the day they installed it I have had noting but great service.

I would hardly think that an employee of the company in question would be the best person to make comments about their service. They could hardly be described as impartial 🙂

Ok I agree there, but im just saying how I find their service personally. They have never let me down. How long were you with them yourself? Because its very hard for me to believe that the service could ever be as bad as a dial-up based on what they are giving me at the moment and for the last while.

I had the connection here for a couple of weeks and tried it out a few times:

The results were dire every single time and from what I have gathered this experience is not rare.
And yes it was as bad as dialup – in fact worse a lot of the time
