Adding Some Personal Touches With Prints and Framed Stamps

January 14, 2017 by Michele Neylon Leave a Comment

While adding USB sockets, broadband and other geeky stuff to the house over the last few days has been both fun and satisfying, it’s not all about the tech. A house needs to become a home. It needs to have some reflection of its occupant’s personality before you can really call it yours.

For me there’s probably a number of different things that turn an empty house or apartment into that “home” feel. My books, which reflect both my current and past interests, various items I’ve picked up over the years and of course posters and prints.

I can’t put them all up in the new place just yet, as I don’t know where I’m going to end up putting bookcases and shelving, but there are a couple of spots that are quite “safe” and are unlikely to end up being blocked by any furniture. I’ve also realised that I might have more posters and prints than I do wall space to hang them on without ending up with that cluttered Victorian art gallery feeling.

Anyway, this evening I was able to put up two items, my framed Ratatouille poster, which now lives in the kitchen (that seemed to be the  appropriate location!):

and the framed Mr Men stamp set, which now resides in the main bathroom.

I’m not sure why the Mr Men feels so right in a bathroom, but it does. The framed stamps come from Royal Mail, who offer some really nicely presented framed stamps, though I still haven’t worked out how they choose which ones to frame.

And yes I am very aware that neither of them is hanging 100% correctly. I need to get a spirit level!
