Working With SuPHP Permissions and Ownership

January 8, 2012 by Michele Neylon Leave a Comment

I switched one of my web servers over to use SuPHP a few weeks ago, as it's a lot more secure. However moving from mod_php to suPHP does require a small bit of tweaking of files and directories. Under mod_php you can easily end up with a lot of files and directories being owned by the Apache user, which on Debian / Ubuntu is "www-data". You'll need to change the ownership … [Read more...] about Working With SuPHP Permissions and Ownership

Dvds.ie Offline Temporarily

May 8, 2008 by Michele Neylon 2 Comments

In my case I have 3 assigned to the server in question. The main IP is used for serving most of the sites, … [Read more...] about Configuring Multiple Services on Port 80

February 14, 2008 by Michele Neylon 5 Comments

Today was upgrade Ubuntu day!For some inane reason I hadn't kept ANY of my Ubuntu servers up to date in terms of releases (they were up to date in terms of security patches). Part of the reason why I hadn't upgraded was laziness - they were all working properly, so I didn't see any reason to fix something that wasn't broken... Of course that meant that when I finally decided to … [Read more...] about Upgrading Ubuntu Is Fun – Sort of!
