In case you aren’t familiar with it SourceForge is probably the most important online portal for open source software on the ‘net.
There are a lot of other sites offering resources, articles, scripts and downloads, but SourceForge is where a very large portion of the more important projects have found a home.
I’ve been using SourceForge intermittently for the last 4 years, so I got a bit of surprise when I logged in last night. They’ve completely overhauled the entire interface.
The new look and feel is a lot slicker overall, though some elements confused me.
For example, it took me about 10 minutes to work out where the search function had moved to. Why?
Well they’ve put it right beside the dropdown for logged in users’ “favourite links”, so it looks more like a multiple selection dropdown menu than a search form. A nice clear “search” label wouldn’t go astray.
Apart from that I really like the new look..
