Open Office Tips and Tricks

My mother has been using Open Office since she got her new PC at Christmas. Most of the time “it just works”, but today she ran into a problem. While looking for a solution I came across this blog, which seems to offer a wealth of useful tips and tricks for new users.
Anybody know of any other resources, or should I try one of the books that I found?
OpenOffice.Org X for Dummies (For Dummies S.)

If anyone has tried any of these books or knows of something better please let me know

  1. Not for mumsy (unless she’s a Blacknight reseller), but I thought this tutorial on using OpenOffice* for an invoicing system was quite good. Been meaning to play with it meself, installed OpenOffice an’ everyfing, then forgot all about it. You know how it is. 🙂
    * I refuse to call it the official name. Sorry, but crap.

  2. I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t really like OO/OOo. It’s not a patch on MS Office … being honest. Still, tis free and i’m a cheap skate.
    Thx for the tips.

  3. I agree, the “org” is annoying but I understand that a Korean software group owns the name OpenOffice. Oh, well.
Thanks for the link to my blog, Michele, I appreciate it. Am working away on the final changes to the 2.0 version of my OpenOffice.org book so it will be out this summer. If my editor gets would stop spending all his time partying at conventions and start the book through the publishing process, that is. ;>
