The guys over at the .blog domain name registry have been doing a series of short posts to highlight or showcase “dotbloggers”. My switch over to michele.blog as my main domain for my rather random blog posts was recently featured by them.
You can read their post here.
I made the move over to michele.blog early in January of this year, as I outlined here. Don and Paolo from the .blog registry helped me to acquire the domain name and I was absolutely delighted to be able to not only get it but put it to active use almost immediately.
I’ve redirected most of the traffic from the old site and domain to this new one, though I’m still seeing some 404 errors in my logs, which is kind of annoying. Over the past few weeks I’ve been updating references to the old domain whenever I come across them, but it’ll take me a long time to “fix” the ones I can control. I haven’t looked, but there’s probably tons of references to the original domain I was using and I switched away from that years ago!
As for michele.me. For now it’s sitting there as before. Google is now warning me that the site is not mobile friendly (boo!) so I probably will do something about addressing that and several issues “soon”.
For now there’s no email linked to this domain name, as I’ve been using one of my other domain names for a lot of my personal email recently. Yes I could setup email using michele.blog, but what’s the point? I’ve got enough functioning email addresses and mailboxes already without adding to the collection 🙂
