Maybe I Should Move To Florida

A couple of months ago there was an article in the Sunday Business Post about US properties for sale on eBay. Some of the figures were insane – you basically could buy a house for a few thousand dollars!

This weekend’s Sunday Business Post has another article on the same subject and is listing houses for sale at prices so low that you could probably get them based on a personal loan or a very small affordable mortgage (by Irish standards).

Maybe I need to move to Florida?

Yes – I had heard about the ancient Americans and hurricanes – maybe that’s why the houses are so cheap? 🙂

  2. Maybe you should buy it cheap in the US now, and sell it in 2 years when prices go up again and use the profit to finally buy a house in Ireland 😉
I was watching a documentary on TV yesterday about the subprime loans crisis, and they showed a foreclosures auctions where a Brazilian woman had just bought 7 (!!) houses at very low prices 😉

Maybe, but will the US housing market recover that much and that quickly?

  4. If you ask the Brazilian woman she´d probably say yes 🙂
Maybe you can buy one in LA instead… so you have a place to stay when you go to Domainfest and can save a lot of money on hotels 😀

  5. Having been awoken by a howling, gale-force wind during the night and then arising to – albeit a sunny – but freezing cool morning, I second the idea of moving to the states!
I’ve even found the place to live – http://www.miamiproperties.com/2473/dsp_agent_page.php/60827/Miami_Beach_Foreclosure/Miami_Properties_south_beach_foreclosure – so if someone can just explain how to get around the lack of a Visa, I’m on the next flight (seriously!)
    🙁
