Le Grand Bleu (The Big Blue) directed by Luc Besson is one of those films that left a mark on me when I was growing up. I first saw it the year of its initial release (1988) in Paris on 70mm at the now defunct Kinopanorama. It’s a visually stunning film, so being able to see it on the gigantic screen on 70mm made for a great experience, one that has stuck with me for more than 30 years.
One of the interesting things about Besson is that he’s stuck with the same collaborators for most of his career, so Jean Reno is there, as is the soundtrack by Eric Serra.
Which brings me to the Cinema concert tour next year in 2022.
Eric Serra will be playing the soundtrack for Le Grand Bleu live.
This looks like it’ll be very cool, though you’ll have to go to France if you want to see it. (I’ve already got my ticket!)
