Irish Rail

August 9, 2005 by Michele Neylon 5 Comments

Irish Rail is the national railway for Ireland. Their website should reflect that.

Unfortunately it doesn’t.
Spoiltchild has had a go at them this morning and rightly so.
Other national railways are able to have functional websites.
Why not Ireland?

Personally, I thing it looks a lot better. A lot less clutter and softer to look at.
If people are going to complain, then surely it should be about the service they provide and not a Web site?

But the website is part of the service and should be reflective of the level of service that they wish to present across the board.
I think it is ugly (personal taste i know), less usable and the information is crammed making it less readable.
I can see they are trying for an idea of simplicity but i am unsure whose idea of simplicity it is.

It’s better than it used to be, at least; it no longer assumes that you want to make all your journeys on the 1st of January! And technology marches on!
