Google’s Business Model / Theory – IIA Conference 2006

John Herlihy is currently giving a talk on Google’s business model and its view of the world.
Some of the key points he’s raised so far is the concept of user-centric emphasis, which sounds very web 2.0.
He’s been talking about the international element of the web and the internet related protocols and services such as VOIP (Skype was mentioned earlier this morning).
The changing face of Ireland’s demographics is something I’ve mentioned in the past. Like me John has spent quite a number of years overseas, so the shift is even more noticable to him.
What’s really interesting is the explanation of how Google introduce new products. The 20% rule as a way of boosting innovation seems to pay off and he explains how it all works.
