Like most people I’ve always had a “love/hate” relationship with my bank. Since taking out a mortgage with them just over a year ago, however, I haven’t been able to complain about their fees anymore, as they’ve been waived.
Of course the bank *is* making plenty of money with the mortgage, so it’s not really “free”.
But what is, however, is the cash back offers via AIB and Visa.
Over the past year I’ve got back over €40 via their system.
€40 isn’t a huge amount of money, but what I love about it is that I didn’t have to do anything special to get the cash back. I just continued shopping in the shops I’d shop in normally. There’s usually a reasonable mix of both “offline” and “online” offers, so that includes things like some of the main supermarket brands like Dunnes Stores and Super Valu. They’ve also had deals with some of the cinema chains where you’d get back something if you bought a ticket or two.
Sure, you’re not going to get rich with these offers, but if you can get a bit of cash back from a bank simply for doing your normal shopping, why wouldn’t you?
