If you wander around Cork city you’ll probably walk past this statue at some point.
“The Echo Boy” serves as a memory as the number of “boys” selling the local evening paper – The Evening Echo – has now dwindled to practically zero. The “boys” are now grown men if they exist at all
They exist – definitely
But they are no longer boys and are (maybe not substantially but a large proportion) not privileged to have been born in Cork……
Is there a list of names of Echo Boys?
My Husbands cousin’s father was one of the Echo Boys, hi name was Michael John Joseph Creedon.

You might be able to get information about the former Echo boys etc., directly from the offices of the Evening Echo / Irish Examiner. Failing that the archives in Cork city library might be helpful.

Thank you so much for your reply, I will write to the Evening Echo/ Irish Examiner,
As I’m not able to go to Cork City Library as we live in England,
But I’m very grateful for you taking the time to reply to me,
Kind Regards
Sue
No problem
Best of luck with your research

Hi I lived the good shepherds convent in Cork back in the late 70’s .
I went out with one of the echo boys, his name is Finbarr o’ Conner. Just wondering if anyone knows him or whatever happened to him .
Kind regard
