Over the last few weeks I’ve been buying bits and pieces for the kitchen. I bought some cheap cutlery last year to replace the even cheaper cutlery I already had, which, of course, replaced it’s even cheaper and nastier predecessor. Do you notice a trend? That’s three separate sets of cutlery in about 3 years! Now if I’d simply forked out (excuse the pun!) for some semi-decent cutlery in the first place this wouldn’t have happened.. Hindsight is wonderful
Anyhow I’ve also been looking at a lot of gadgets and gizmos for the kitchen.
Some of them are pretty cool, but others are more stylish than practical.
Take this salad bowl set: (found via this site)
It looks fantastic, doesn’t it?
But would you be willing to dish out $110 for it? There are a lot of other kitchen gadgets I’d get first.

cooking is something I should have looked into as a profesion as I just love it and not to give myself any self-praisal I am actually very good at it.
Now if you are looking into it seriously then you should invest into good gear that is handy and easy to use not just for the look of it.
I very often binned things that I(by “I” I mean my other half) bought because they were too dangerous to use and totaly useless.
Looking at the juicer picture above I have to say it looks good but it wouldn’t be something that I will use. It’s too high, could easily break the plate or just slip on the side, having all your work spilled all over the kitchen.
Now that salad bowl looks fantastic but I don’t think is going to keep your “salad” fresh and it doesn’t look practical but more for given a ritch impression (to visitors).
