Camera Ordered!

February 27, 2007 by Michele Neylon 8 Comments

A few weeks back, after my trip to LA, I mentioned that I was looking into getting a new camera. Not so much as a replacement for my Sony Cybershot T7, but as an “addon” πŸ™‚
The problem with the Sony Cybershot is that it’s a compact. While it may be capable of taking lovely “snaps” it simply cannot do more advanced things.
The feedback I got in the comments on that post was fantastic, so I finally took the plunge today and ordered a Canon EOS 400D with a EF-S 18-55 mm Lens.
Hopefully I’ll have it by the end of the week.
On a sidenote, AIB’s credit card services were on the phone to me within 5 minutes! Hardly surprising really, as I rarely make large purchases on my personal credit card – and I really do appreciate their vigilance. Of course I couldn’t remember what the hell I bought the other weekend at around 7pm on Saturday … but I was more than happy to discuss all the other transactions on my account, including my trip to Hooters in Hollywood.

BOI did the same to me once I bought the laptop in Toronto. Of course, it was 6am my time and after seven minutes realised the call was likely starting to be costing me a fortune with roaming charges so I thanked them politely for their concern and hung up.
Does Hooters not just appear as **MISC FOOD ITEMS, LA** πŸ˜‰ Congrats on the camera though, Nikon fan myself but the 400D is a cracker.

    Good stuff Michele.
I have a Canon 30D myself and I love it. It won’t be long before you are buying lens, which are by the way much cheaper in the US πŸ™‚

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ – but they are in NY, so you will probably have to pay VAT and duty on purchases from there.
I have used both of these in recent times .
    http://www.ac-foto.com/
    http://www.technikdirekt.de/
http://stores.ebay.ie/Kea-Photo – They have excellent prices. All the stuff comes from the Hong Kong. Every one I know who has used them are always extremely happy with their service.
Give me a shout if you want any advice in particular.
