No More Porn in .ie

April 13, 2007 by Michele Neylon 5 Comments

John mentions that the IEDR have finally done something about porn.ie and added it to the blocklist:
blacknight@siracusa:~$ whois porn.ie
% Rights restricted by copyright; http://www.domainregistry.ie/copyright.html
% Do not remove this notice
domain: porn.ie
descr: Forbidden
descr: Discretionary Applicant
descr: Discretionary Name

nserver: ns0.domainregistry.ie
nserver: banba.domainregistry.ie
source: IEDR

I’d applied for the domain on several occasions over the past couple of years in protest against one of the IEDR’s naming policies – see my previous posts:

Is there any hope that they might do something about those two squatters who soaked up loads of domains like nike.ie? The reason I ask is because they have a domain that I want…

I’m not sure. I’ve posted on one of my other blogs about some of the WIPO decisions on EUBrowser squats:

the problem with EUBrowser being that they exploited the rules 🙁

Isn’t hosting or producing porn illegal here, anyway, though?

Has anybody tried to register the company or business name ‘Porn’… or are the CRO blocking that?
