One of the things that has always frustrated me was that there were no hosting resource sites for the Irish market only
You can find plenty of hosting directories that focus on the US or the UK, but to date there are were none for Ireland only.
The guys in Comado have finally solved this and launched their new hosting directory for the Irish market.
So far there aren’t that many companies listed, but it should grow into a valuable resource once people become aware of its existence.

Like WhoisIreland.com hasn’t been covering the Irish domains/hosting industry for the last five years? Perhaps it is time to restore the hoster pages?

John
There is a big difference between what you do and what a hosting directory does 🙂

That dir is going to be as bias as bedamned. I mean blacknight are hosting the bloody thing – how much did you get your featured listing for Michele?
Waste of space if you ask me – the average user isnt going to go reading that site unless its advertised heavily. Anyways – Boo to biased listings
blacknight says
Rootkit – No matter where that site was hosted somebody would complain about possible bias. We are not involved with the site in any way.
As I already said, it could become useful once people find out about it and hosts get themselves listed.
Rootkit says
There is no possible bias here – there is one! you are hosting it so it does make you connected with the site.
Ack – it doesnt matter. I just dont think its right
blacknight says
Rootkit
We host thousands of websites.
That doesn’t give us any bias towards or against them.
Rootkit says
Ah c’mon you know it does. 1 website – blacknight related topic – blacknight mentioned 3 times on home page. To anyone that has access to that information it looks bias as hell. But if you dont think it does then..;)
Hugh says
Hi Rootkit,
If you submit your listing, you’ll also see your link on our homepage – i’m presuming you’re a hoster so you’ve nothing to lose by submitting it.
On the note of Blacknight hosting it, yes they do. But so what? Do you want me to negate the point of having an Irish hosting directory by hosting it outside of Ireland? That’d hardly inspire confidence in users would it.
No matter which Irish host I chose, people are always going to say its unfair to the other hosters who submit their listings. While you’re at it, you may as well just say the site is biased in favour of the hosting companies who share the same data centre as Blacknight. Why not sure?
Less of the typical Irish business begrudgery would be kinda good.

I’m not a hoster no. But if i was, you are correct, I would have nothing to loose and yes im sure my link would be on the home page. My issue was that BK’s was on 3 times…not one….3. And ok – i could pay out for a top listing (if i was a hoster) but im pretty sure you and michele have a nice deal going, btw that’s called favouritism – which is also another form of bias. Sites like yours should be maintained by someone who is a totally independent party.
Your average user isn’t going to know where’s its hosted and most people don’t care where its hosted. Its the effect of hoster on the site – links all over the place. That’s what the user will see.
While you’re at it, you may as well just say the site is biased in favour of the hosting companies who share the same data centre as Blacknight. Why not sure? – Grow up and get real. It bothers me not if you keep trying to find petty arguments to defend yourself with – people will see the partnership for what it is – Biased.
Hugh says
Well then you can say that Fastprovider are getting a raw deal because their listing comes up once on the home page, but Letshost, Webworld, Myhost and 2bscene have two links instead of that one.
The difference? They show up in the recently added listings list, as does Blacknight because it was recently added. In fact, the first listing to go up was Fastprovider, and surely if I was in cahoots with Blacknight, they’d have gone up first surely. The price list for what Blacknight have is here – http://www.hostingdirectory.ie/compare.php. We pay them a lot of money every year, so its good to see them signing up for advanced listings like this.
But anyone can upgrade – including the other providers – so if they want it, it’s there for them.
I also wouldn’t say I was coming up with petty arguments to defent myself, you were coming up with petty accusations. If you like, I could move the site somewhere else?
Cheers,
Grown Up Hugh.
Steve says
How will the site be promoted? Wont be much use unless the traffic is there to justify it…
Hugh says
The site will be promoted extensively on Blacknight Solutions’ home page, and in all of their stationery, which they are getting re-printed for this purpose.
Not!
The usual, Google and Google Adwords, across the Comado Network, and the other avenues which have worked well for all our other sites.
Cheers,
H
