Peter got to see inside Microsoft’s upcoming log analysis tool, which is obviously aimed at competing against Google Analytics (Urchin).
It would be nice to see someone take on Google in this space, especially as there have been issues reported by people again in the last few days
One of the sites I run Analytics on hasn’t reported accurately in months, so a decent alternative would be a boon.
Of course, if Microsoft and Yahoo were to get the finger out and launch their publisher programs, as alternatives to Adsense, things would get even more interesting.

I’ve noticed serious inaccuracies in Analytics lately (reporting thousands of page views fewer than AdSense, across a few sites, on some days only). However, I find it hard to be enthusiastic about any Microsoft web product; so far, they have been generally very poor.

So I’m not alone 🙂
With regard to Microsoft, I think you’re missing the point.
It doesn’t matter how good the Microsoft product / service is as long as it brings competition into the marketplace.
Without competition you get stagnation

Mhe… I still like my awstats better, but that´s probably because I don´t really do any serious traffic analysis of my (2) websites 😀
Btw… if you want to see something funny about Google Analytics, check this post 😀

Michele,
I haven’t noticed anything weird with analytics (apart from the Flash date range selector being a bit flaky), but Clicky (getclicky.com) is worth evaluating. They have premium and a basic services with a 29 day free trial of the premium service.
