As a couple of people contacted me about this already this morning I thought I’d better clarify a couple of things.
Sites are ranked according to popularity ie. number of visitors etc., NOT votes, so getting all your friends to vote for you won’t have much influence
You need to place a snippet of HTML on your blog so that the system can track the number of visits to your site.
If you look at the bottom top right of my blog’s main page you should see a small image which links through to Irishblogs.info. It updates in realtime ie. the more popular your blog is then you should see the number changing.
People reading your blog via RSS will not be counted as the image counter is not in the RSS feed.
If you have any other questions please let me know
Um,
how can I get my hands on the snippet of code?
Thanks,
Tom
Tom
Just login at http://www.irishblogs.info and grab it from within the user control panel
I think I need to write an FAQ 🙂
Michele
I copied the code from yours and substituted your id (1) for mine (3) – that should do it, right?
Maybe I’ll read the code in the Control Panel, just in case!
Please do, but it should just work 🙂
Hmmm, but wouldn’t we need to have friends in the first place to undertake this dastardly plan?
You do have a point …
Tom
I’ve just checked your site. The image doesn’t look right. Did you replace the ID in both places in the HTML snippet?
Michele
I sure did – view the source and see for yourself!
Ok. I’ll go poke at the scripts. Could be my browser ….
um, doesn’t the fact that this misses RSS readers, make it a bit of a non-starter?
Justin
There isn’t much I can do about that unfortunately. There is no simple way of tracking both the standard web views and RSS ones.
Having said that, surely a blog that is popular would be so regardless of the medium ?
Michele
hola,
The url for todays (thurs) site of the day is wrong; missing a g.
Not sure if this is a good or bad place to mention it, but *shrug* there you go
Fence
Looks like the site owner submitted the wrong URL when they signed up. I’ve fixed it anyway 🙂
Thanks
Michele
