Alternatives to ESB?

What other companies are there in the Irish market that offer electricity solutions to business?
The only one I’ve come across is Airtricity who promise a 10% saving.
Are there any others worth dealing with?

  1. Saw that too. And they’re promising a price freeze till 2010. The only thing I’d be concerned about is the level of debt these guys have (mentioned in the papers a few weeks ago).
You don’t want them doing a SMART!
Then again, AirTricity are owned by NTR so you’re probably ok.

  2. I used Airtricity for the past 12 months in my stores, appalling, same prices in reality and trying to get them co-operate on meeting reading etc was a chore.
It took them 7 months to stop sending me monthly inflated bill which were paid by direct debit

  3. One thing I will say about ESB. Despite Michele’s past experiences with them, they are the ONLY utility provider I have used in Ireland in the past 10 years that have billed me accurately and not padded up their bills with confusing pricing bands.
Time for Michele to rant … :O)

  4. I have to agree with Peter to some extent; of all the utility companies in Ireland ESB seem to be the best run and the most consumer “friendly”.
The choice on the continent is much greater. While living in Belgium I could choose from up to 6 providers (if I recall correctly)…
    E.

  5. My experiences to date with ESB as a business customer have been pretty dire. They tried to over charge us by a significant 4 figure sum!
