Adsense Backlash – The Sites With No Content

Adsense gives webmasters a great way to “monetise” (what a word!) their websites.

Unfortunately, for those of us who run link directories, such as search.ie, some webmasters are becoming the bane of our lives.
There is a growing trend of creating “adsense sites”, which are basically keyword rich domain names tied to micro-sites. The sites contain very little in terms of original content, but are “perfect” for content targetted advertising.
How does it work?
Very simply you choose an area that has a high PPC price on adwords (the advertiser equivalent of adsense) and register a domain which is keyword rich. For example, if I wanted to target hosting I could register something like:
cheap-website-hosting-information.com
the domain name is not very attractive, but contains several keywords that are “attractive” from an seo point of view, so all you then need to do is add content related to the keywords.
Simple, isn’t it?
Well, not quite, as these sites rarely contain any original content, but will attract high paying keyword adverts.
Webmasters who provide original content and useful websites thus have to contend with this new form of search engine spam.
All in the name of making a “quick buck”
