About Me

Michele Neylon is founder and managing director of Blacknight Internet Solutions Ltd, an ICANN accredited registrar and hosting company based in Ireland.

A lot of people encounter problems in pronouncing his first name correctly.

The correct pronunciation is mēke’lā (if you can read phonetics – if you can’t you’ll just have to believe me).

His name is of Italian origin and has one “L”.

He runs a growing number of sites in his “free time” such as Films.ie, Search.ie and many more.

Michele was shortlisted for the Irish Internet Association Net Visionary Awards 2005 under the Internet Entrepreneur category.

His LinkedIn profile may be found here

In 2006 he was shortlisted for both Internet Entrepreneur and Best Blogger.

In 2008 he was shortlisted in three categories; Business Blogger, Internet Entrepreneur and Internet Marketer.

He won the IIA Net Visionary Awards in 2008 for Best Business Blogger and Best Internet Marketer

Blacknight won best Business Blog at the Irish Blog Awards in 2009.

He was awarded an IIA Net Visionary Award in 2010 for Best Use of Social Media.

He is on the Irish enum policy advisory board, where he represents the Irish Internet Association.

He sat on the EUrid Registrar Advisory Board from 2010 until 2016 and was Chair between 2011 and 2016.

He is also a voting member of the Registrars Stakeholder Group within ICANN’s GNSO.

He is actively involved in the internet / ICT industry in Ireland as well as being an actively involved with several open source projects.
He has given talks on a range of topics from email filtering, through blogging to online marketing to a number of organisations including Skynet, IIA, local enterprise boards, ICANN, the IGF and Investnet / First Tuesday.

Articles published here and on InternetNews.me have been syndicated with permission to industry news sites such as CircleID and Domain Name News

PC Live, one of Ireland’s consumer electronics magazines (now defunct), published a column by him every month up until July 2008.

From January 2008 to July 2008 a short column was also being published in the ICT supplement of The Sunday Business Post.

He has been cited in both print and online publications on various aspects of internet business, technology and policy.

He developed an addiction to several TV shows including Scrubs, NCIS, House, Big Bang Theory, Chuck and Stargate Atlantis (though some of them have been cancelled!).

He has been known to play a few games online, such as Enemy Territory or Battlefield 2 (and BF2142), although he’s not particularly good at any of them and would never describe himself as a gamer.

More recently he’s taken to playing various games on the Xbox (badly!)
