Gladiator – Special Edition

I would be the first to admit that I am an addict. I’m addicted to DVDs.

I would be more than happy to spend every spare euro on DVDs, so special edition box sets are all too tempting.
The latest one that caught my eye is the 3 disc box set of Gladiator.
According to Amazon:

DVD Features:
• Special Feature Information:
° Introduction By Ridley Scott
° Commentary By Russell Crowe And Ridley Scott
° Are You Not Entertained
° Tales Of The Scribes Story Development
° The Tools Of War Weapons
° Attire Of The Realm Costume
° The Heat Of Battle Production Journals
° The Glory Of Rome Visual Effects
° Shadows And Dust Resurrecting Proximo
° Echoes In Eternity Release And Impact
° Production Design Primer Arthur Max
° Production Design Gallery
° Storyboard Demonstration Sylvian Despretz
° Storyboard Gallery
° Storyboard To Film Comparisons
° Ridleygrams
° Costume Design Gallery
° Photo Galleries
° Abandoned Sequences And Deleted Scenes
° VFX Explorations Germania And Rome
° Trailers And TV Spots

I’ve already got the 2 disc box set, so I’m not 100% sure whether the 3 disc version is worth it, but I know I am tempted.

  1. While i enjoyed the film its never been one of those where i thought i must see it again. However the hitchhikers guide is out and that i want to get 🙂 Already seen it 3 times in the cinema. Is that sad?….

    Don’t feel bad 🙂
I saw The Matrix in the cinema three times in three different countries when it first came out.
Gladiator is one of those films that I simply adore. I’m not sure why exactly, but it’s always been one of my favourites. I still maintain, however, that some of the subplots were uncalled for and could have been left on the cutting room floor.

  3. I take it that you’re pleased at the news that they’re making a sequel out of it.
Overrated version of Brave heart in my opnion unfortunately, but I do share the same DVD obsession.
