Tracy Chapman’s hit “Fast Car” was first released in 1988. It was also her first single. It was a success globally.
While it has been covered many times over the years it’s only this year that a cover version has met with real success. Country singer Luke Combs’ version of Fast Car has been a huge success. And if you listen to it you can see (and hear) how true to the original it is. It has got his own touch, but it’s not a massive departure from the original.

So 35 years after its initial release the song is being brought to a whole new audience.
